I have mine on wire but during the winter i put the board over it and use the shavings and also put light on them for heat. 20 t0 25 no heat cool

all mine are soild floors and i cover with tarps at night . so far so good . i do have a heat buld in each cage but have not used them yet .

During the winter mine would be on the solid floor prepping for the shows in the spring. I live in Louisiana and it doesn't get freezing. I won't normally have chicks in the winter but I just couldn't pass up these eggs from Jerry. All of my cages are underneath a covered barn so their isn't much of a draft. I just have a ton of wire left and decided to build all wire cages with it.

Thanks everyone for the great info. I think I will make mine with the wood floors. I have some cages now with wire and dont like it much. I feel its to cold for them.
