I just learned something, too!

That sounds like my kind of camera!

I just came back in from taking care of all the birds. TWO of the lights I had in the pens for my seramas were burned out!

Those bulbs were less than 2 weeks old! It's snowing out, but thank goodness the temp hasn't gotten too cold in the barn yet. The water in the unheated pans was not frozen so I know it has stayed above freezing, even though it was colder than that outside. I replaced the bulbs.

I hate to think what might happen if we loose power this winter. Last year we had several days with actual temps of -18 and wind chills in the -50 degree range.

WELL< start thinking about a shelter in the house for them---just in case.....thats what I do....but whatever you do don't let them sleep with you on the bed----you will NEVER get rid of them.....

THIS INFO IS FOR ALL YOU GUYS THAT LIKE PHD CAMERA.....

I have a KODAK EASY SHARE CAMERA W/ 10x/ZOOM. it takes wonderful pics and is SO EZE to operate, even a frog can do it!It has great instructions if you want to go "manual" with it, but otherwise it is point and shoot.....
It is sort of bulky compared to some of these slim phone sized one...but to me is worth it. [its about the size of a normal film type camera]. Hope that helps.....

With 8 seramas, 8 old english, 3 black rosecombs and 4 bantam cochins it could get pretty crowded in here! Actually, I think I could make some kind of arrangment in the basement to accommodate them. If I have to... I will.

Froggie, since you have an almost naked bird, maybe you have a suggestion for me. Lucky is far from featherless but he is proving to be a little sparse, I think, . Are there any vitamins, foods, etc. that I can supplement him with? Thanks, Brenda

Got me thinking....I had a little Chinese crested (hairless dog) in my life for some time. Exfoliating the skin was critical to keeping it soft and healthy. There is a product called "Zapzit" stupid name but this cleanser ROCKS! it is super gentile with chamomile and aloe but it also has Salicylic acid that provides gentle exfoliation. Worked great keeping the pores clear. Works great on my sensitive facial skin as well

. Might work for a naked chicken too!
She is a cutie.

Question for all the SCNA members. I see there is a forum section on the website, but am not finding many topics except welcome etc. Am I just not figuring the site out? If you can't tell, I'm a new member.

I was hoping to view members birds, see some show winners, learn learn and again learn. lol (I've only just bought my first pair less than a week ago, and have alot to learn) And all I want for Xmas are more!!!

If you are a dues paid member, you should be able to see everything; if not, there are still some sections that should be visible to you. Here are some links to my Photobucket pages, of show winners in OH/IN/KY this year. They are also on the SCNA site.

Hey Wilobrookfarms! There are many sections with pictures. Not sure what you are seeing when you log on, but if you can get to the forums and scroll down, you should be able to see all of the forums, from picture sharing to virtual shows, breeding and color projects, etc. You can see show winners under the "upcoming shows and events" I know there are brand new pictures from the Sparta, TN show. Hope this helps!
