American serama thread!

I would just like to say that my very first batch of Serama hatching eggs will be sent next week! I'm so excited!

13 oz is healthy girl thats not small at all.... if her comb and wattles are red then i would say anytime. perhaps contact the person that bred her and ask them for her birthdate.... most folks keep record of that and parentage i hope the person you got her from did as well

How old are seremas when they start laying? I got a pullet over 2 months ago, I was told she was 5-6 months old, and she still hasn't laid. I thought she looked much younger, her comb was very small and pale, and she didn't have any wattles. It is red now and she does have little wattles, but she is quite tiny, she weighs 13oz.

My seramas made it just fine outside last night. It was 29 this morning and they seemed to have no problem. Plastic on the sides of the wire and lots of hay inside. Roosts are buried in hay, No supplemental heat. Thankfully here in Florida it doesn't stay too cold for too long. Not too sure how low is too low?

It is a vitamin supplement we mix with their water for one week in the month

thanks just wondering. (probably just nosy) I notice some very good ideas on your cage set up. I never thought to let the whole front come down....I was only thinking the door in the wire. Makes absolute sense. I am glad I am still researching and looking at everyone's cages. Thank you so much for sharing.

When I got up this morning it was 18. We can get much colder....I am glad this winter has been milder than the norm. We have not had any negative temps yet. Oh, I am up by the Canadian border.
