American serama thread!

I will look forward to seeing you at one soon then!

My own breeding program is getting started this year with that first little chick. He is my first since my very first hatch last July. I got several breeders from YB192004 (Joey). I'm excited and proud to have them in my flock. The cockerel he gave my daughter was Jr. champion cockerel, and Jr. Reserve Champ of show in November.

Well Chickenlover<3, you can say what ever you want......I spend less then 400$ on my flock and I am happy with where I am at right now. As for the color, everyone can make a cocopop but to have them breed true to the color take knowlege to do so. Let me ask you this, is the pair you got from your friend throw the offspring the same color as the dad/mom???? You do the math on what you have is cocopop or cocopatton.....you sound like you lack the knowlege on how to breed for color, a brother and sister breeding is how you lock up the color in poultry breeding. If you don't believe me, ask anyone that have experience on breeding. Just in case you don't know, almost all the seramas in the Norther America are from Jerry's line except for a few others were brought over by 2 other hobbiest but the numbers weren't as great as Jerry's.

So how do you plan on improving the type ? I know breeding brother and sister will lock in color. What about the type ? About the offspring will let you know when I will grow some out . What it look like to me is your breeding for color over type .

I haven't been in this thread since the big conversion.

Here are a few of our babies, growing up now...

I wish this one was more colorful. I love the patterns on the feathers.

And here are some of our big guys and gals...

love that roo- what color is that? (the new byc should make images in a quote go to a thumbnail size)

Father & son........as much as I like my box of chocolates, I also like the challenge of making cookie cutters.  :)   With a few minor adjustments in my breeding program this yr, my cocopop should be ready to compete.;)

Son at 5 months old.

This is a full brother to the cockerel above, he is a laced golden (intermediate) duckwing.  As I suspected, the breeding of double laced cocopop silver duckwing will yield 3 different varieties just like the golden duckwing crossing in oegb.

HOLY-MOLEY Joey, so THATS what you have been up to.........The colors are magnificent!!!! The lacing--TO DIE FOR!! Is this roo from Brownii line???

Cute chick pics for today....

5 day olds

Here's Little Dan, his toes are normal... DH didn't wipe the poop before he shot.

Here is another great prospect. It is a hatchmate to Little Dan, but is not mine. I hatched a few eggs for a friend.

Oh Chaili, Little Dan is SO CUTE!! I am impressed with the 2nd fuzzy [too bad its not yours].....such an upright pose already!

Why do you think I do the vanilla caramel project???? It one of the crossing that I will be using to improve the type in my cocopop line later on. Chickenlover<3, I would be care full with what people tell you.....as for me, I am straight up front I don't have anything to hide or fabricate stories to cover my track.
