American serama thread!

I am new to Seramas, I did research beforehand BUT...

Love my little roo to bits. Healthy and sweet, good with people and hens...

That being said, he only roosts at night. He's always on the ground or the coop floor while the sun is up. I have roosts of different sizes and height. He never touches the ones outside and only uses the most popular roost to sleep.

Do they have a preference to be on the ground, or would he prefer a specific kind of roost?

Just curious, I want him to be comfy. Any input is appreciated.

Thanks!

:welcome from Froggies Roost in southern CA! I would have to say yes they prefer to be on the ground in the daytime.... How old is your roo and what other seramas do you have?
Aren't Seramas the BOMB! :yesss: :cd

He's my first! I plan on more!!!! He's in with 2 Polish girls and a silkie right now. Breeder said he was about 7 months, but he was recently coming out of a molt, I think. He had the telltale signs on his neck feathers. So maybe closer to a year?

He actually makes a nest and lays next to my girls when they lay their eggs. He waits with them. He's a doll.

I sure would like to have first chance at the little cockeral on the left in the pic!!!
He is cute, isn't he? Trouble is, all these chicks came from buff x buff, and there's about 4 different colors in the offspring. It's been about a year since I've hatched, so I don't even remember what a wheaten male looks like growing up.

I just found this thread and was going to read the whole thing before posting my pics and such but then I saw the number of posts - maybe in my down time I'll read it all, so here's my kids Chainsaw and Ptarmigan foraging Use-tice from Useless, she lays yolkless eggs but is now brooding Ptarmy's eggs, 5 so far, probably can't fit one more so has found a function.
And one I lost and am looking to replace ,Partridge
I still can't seem to get them to pose though . what's the trick?

Looks like I'm now a Serama Breeder!

I purchased a trio of little A class Seramas on Saturday. They are about 6 months old and all under 10oz.!

The youngest hen of the trio. I've named her Dove. She is still peeping, so not quite 6 months old. She weighs 8oz.

This is the darker hen. She is a little older and is 9oz.

This is the best pic I could get of the roo. He weighs 11oz.

My seramas enjoying just being chickens!

Dove with her sights set on a lovely cricket!
