My 'Mini-Man'....silkied micro, and CROWLESS to boot.

I officially think this is the cutest Serama I've ever seen.!! I thought mine were small.

What I'd like to see is the chick.

Was he born tiny or was he normal sized and didn't get as big as the others? Always wondered how micros start out.

I had one hatch in my first batch that was only as big as my thumbnail in body an only as tall as my thumb to the first knuckle. He didn't make it.

OMG He is adorable!! I have a feeling my little black silkied is going to be tiny too...maybe not quite as tiny as your guy, but at 7 weeks, it is still TINNNNYYY compared to what my 13 week old babes were at the same age.

I will be posting some Serama on the auction site where I sell my Araucana starting tonight. There will be some nice ones, I'm thinning the flock before it gets too wintry here so these won't be culls, not even my worst, just extra's and colors that won't fit into my plans. I'll post them as I have time and photo's but I'm going to start off with my nice Frizzled cockerel, he is officially "proven" and has given me a couple of chicks so far, he's young but breeding good and definitely fertile. He may be chocolate, but he is definitely a chocolate carrier. His mother is chocolate and his father a chocolate carrier (wheaten looking) so 100% of the cockerels from that cross carry chocolate. His chicks are chocolate so far but not enough to confirm he is actually chocolate himself although I'm pretty certain he is, it's hard to feel 100% yet. Every feather is red with chocolate lacing. This is not a real busy auction site, it was started and is maintained by my friend, Ann Charles, from Skyblueegg (Araucana's). I routinely use this site to sell my Araucana's. Well, I just saw something moving in that one egg I have, it's a bit of a wiggle worm, so that makes me hopeful! Unfortunately, it still has a huge air sack that's strangely shaped (a re-attached loose one) I also have a tiny bit of hope for another egg that is very opaque. But it was one of the dirty ones, and I might be seeing a dark, bacterial spot. I just think I see small veins in there. I think it'll be clear in a few more days if it's changing along with the other egg, developing or not. Still, if that one egg makes it, I'd be so happy!

The dark spot could be the eye, too. Don;t give up hope yet! And yay for the wiggly one! I love to watch the little things dancing in there. I am sooooo anxious for this hatch. It has to work out well... I can't afford for it to go south now. LOL!

I have a genetics question.

If I breed a non frizzled rooster to frizzled hens will I get frizzled in the first generation?

Thank you Aschenfire! I just candled again this morning, and I saw something moving in the opaque egg!!! So I have two growing!!! The others are clearly dead, so I pulled them out now. I'm so happy to see a wiggly in that second egg, OMG!!!

Breshcandra, I beilieve you get... and I could be remembering wrong as I'm just learning, 25% smooth with no frizzle gene, 50% frizzle and 25% smooth with frizzle gene. You never want to breed a frizzle to frizzle because you end up with a "curly". Curly birds have broken feathers all the time and can be unhealthy, but they always hatch frizzles to a non frizzle. It can have curlys if the smooth bird has frizzle genes though. Actually, I shouldn't answer this question, I'm confusing myself into a corner
