Hi guys
Or more exactly "girls".
Giardia is called beaver fever here. It was brought from Europe by humans. They peed in the water which is the intermediary host where the eggs hatch into larvae which then is taken into the intestinal tract of what ever drinks the water. Once inside the intestinal tract it morphs and affecting the body by borrowing through the guts and stomach walls.
It morphs agn to adult then lays eggs. The cycle starts again.
Native people (around here anyhow) had a teaching not to make dung or water within 4 lengths of a mans body ro a lake, River, stream or any other body of water.
It's like" Yo muffa. Don't be peein or poopin in my drinking water. Matter o-fact, go pee or poop over there 25 feet or more away. That way there ain't no chance to be getting any bad stuff in my children's' drinking water. Have respect for those behind you." kind of a thing. You know like""Why pee or poop in your well?"
Sooooo...... most likely something else.
Try sticking to one brand and/or "recipe" of food. It takes a dogs dog's body 11 days or so to make enzymes to digest a "recipe". If you keep changing it you are just taxing your dogs digestive system affecting his entire body. And you can probably relate tot not feeling good physically having overriding effects on your psychic.
Oh ya, another thing... DON'T give puppies milk. Our bodies stop producing lactase when we stop breastfeeding. Lactase is needed to digest lactose. All mammals are the same. As a matter of fact you can't feed a newborn moose baby bovine milk without the "bee's milk first. Even with the "bee's milk" a moose calf will still have a hard time on bovine milk. Horses too. Sheep too. Goats too. Llamas............ I think the pic is clear. We humans are the only mammals to feed our babies the milk of another mammal.
Simple and effective recipe for puppies. ........Puppy food and water. For a whole year. You could try a small amount of mint and/or clove oil. Very small. Like a cpl drops and 1/2 leaf.
Of course I may be way off. Might be a kidney infection from the other dogs pee. Agn, may be way off........
So let me know what the vet says.

I personally think there is no pure Alaskan Husky. The breed is pretty much the ultimate mutt with working in mind. Gosh I love them though! My friend has Seppalla lines in her kennel and I got to race two of them last year. They were amazing animals. Super willing to do what was asked of them and beautiful creatures! I sure do have a pic of her! :D She is the one in the back looking at the ground. Meringue decided to get her pic taken too. And I'm glad you were able to use the "blurb". :thumbsup
Yessiree Blue, if'n I had a cpl bitches like that I would most certainly put a Sepp in them and have a crazy butt team that could handle the weather here.. Thaz some kickin lookin mutts you got there. Yes, Sepps(& the other original lines) are kickin K9's eh. No wonder Mr.Seppalla won so many races. Mind back in them days there was only them longlegged, furry village dogs built for pulling at a trot or goin through deep snow. Actually I guess by then the US&Cdn governments were already enacting their plan to get rid of the old dogs eh. So there would already have been quite a few different bloods in many of the sled dogs of the day. .....era. Yes the"blurb" has impacted quite a few ppl already. Shook some for sure. Awakened some others and re-awakened some. It's a pretty powerful message. It is actually empowering..... To men as well as women. And you are only 16 or so. I brag about that you know. Wise for your age. Keep it up.

When do y'all start taking the dogs for a run? It's been kinda rainy here so I've been doing 1 on 1 with Nala, it's been close to a year since she's worked I beleive?
She's doing good just need to work her away from home.

It's already cooler in the evenings here. I'm just waiting for my buddy to bring me his little "dune buggy" kinda thing so I can start hooking up more than 3.
I've been walking with my K9's all summer. I sometimes take just 1 when I go jog. Kinda weird tho.....usually end up going for a "drag".
Ya.....all year round is good , ,if u can..

Sadly. Arrow can't be bred. She has an umbilical hernia which I was told bars her from any breeding. Bums me out but I'm hoping to buy a Sepp from a friend and get him bred to Meringue. He has the legs and stride I'm looking for. Meringue has an awkward trot but multiple people said I just need to find a good tempered male with a nice trot. I ran the dog before and I fell in love with him. Great personality, nice strong legs, and over all a big boy. He ran wheel from me but could have easily been a leader. I had a different Sepp and Meringue leading. It was kind of funny. He would be a 'backseat driver' to the two girls. I was lucky to be able to borrow some wonder Sepps last winter and they were just the best workers.

thankfully i already know about the whole feeding and introducing new food thing and the milk thing. i have been feeding the same food as the shelter so i know it is not the food. that is why i am thinking it is some sort of a virus. last wedneseday they gave me metro and sulfa mixed together i had to give it to him twice a day for a week. this morning was his last dose of it and so far the diarrhea has disappeared and he seems to be feeling better he is not the same puppy as before when i first got him. he is so playful and active now. when i picked him out he was in the back of the cage sleeping and then when i brought him home that is all he ever seemed to do, sleep. i know puppies sleep a lot, but he was sleeping way more than any puppy i had ever had so i am hoping that whatever was causing the diarrhea has disappeared. i have to take him tomorrow for an injection because i noticed he had mange on his ears and tail along with impetigo on his stomach which i have been treating with peroxide. funny thing is is that the vet tried to blame the impetigo on me asking if i let him sleep in his pee...i told the vet he came home with it and that seemed to shut him up. also i have no idea what the vet has been thinking he has. every time i go i forget to ask i am usually trying to remember the instructions for the medicine, but i will try to remember friday.

Yes that is a sad situation. Good thing is I feel strongly that she will have a good life with you.
Looking from here she would be 1 to throw some good pups....esp from a Sepp....or any of the other original "Chukchi" dogs. Sure be kickin mutts eh.
Oooooooooooo! Sure be nice to see them pups pulling a sled at full tilt.:clap
LOL"....get him bred....." Ouch! "....get him to breed Meringue." or "...breed him into Meringue..."
But ya, from your description of him leads me to think,"Umhmmm. Yep. Especially if he has black toe and foot pads."
So how heavy do you think he is at working weight. I hear a 60lb"er" is a ML-L male Sepp. A leggy 55lb"er" is apparently a good racy 1.
All my a small for my team but according to what I've seen a rather large norm. I remember reading somewhere that a 35 lb female was the norm too.
LOL, backseat driver. Why? You said he would be a great leader then"backseat driver..." .??
Yes they like to go. Okinawa was a Show(Irish standards)Sibe, Seppella Sibe cross. Geez he worked hard. Dang I still miss him lots.

Yes it's fine and dandy to pump chemicals/meds into a body. Ppersonally I believe it's is somewhat more effective when I know what I'm treating.
Point in question, docs dang near killed my dad by over medicating him for something they didn't wven know what was wrong. Poor old man ended up in the hospital for almost 2 months. Reminds of what an old man said to 1 of his many grandsons,"Don't be so smart you are dumb." Well at least that's what it translates to in English. Actually it sounds kyna funny in ininimotan but still carries a good sound message.
Point here is, Yes! Ask "What is going on. Has there been a definite prognosis?"
No real necessity screwing up kidneys with all kinds of meds for the sake of putting on a show of "I know........." This is a life we are toying with here. I feel you have every right to ask for respect for a wee life....hopefully a healthy, happy and long 1
Sorry. I just get so POed when Ii see people exercising their authority in an almost bullying manner. I have seen it much too often. And much too often it ends hurting someone or something that is essentially an innocent bystander.
Maybe I should just wish you and Shakur luck, health and prosperity. Oh ya, your partner too.:hugs

XD The people I borrowed (and will hopefully buy) work hard to get leaders out of all their dogs. After talking to the owner about which line up they worked best in, we put him in wheel. But since he is also a leader, he would 'back seat drive' as we jokingly called it.

Oh.... I see now what you mean.. Du-uh me!
I would think getting leadership from all the dogs in a kennel would have it's merits.
In my experience not all K9's are lead material. Pretty much any K9 can be "taught to do tricks". Even "old dogs can be taught new tricks". In my opinion leading a team of up 20 other dogs ain't a "trick". It's extremely hard work that requires a lot of dedication, practically free thinking and a balance sense of self
LOL I guess that's why I am practically self employed and work alone best.........even when I am employed by others. I lack patience, tolerance, humility and have very little to absolutely no regard for the frail human ego. Not good leadership qualities.......apparently.
I ain't tryna discredit or deny or disrespect anyone else's thoughts and/or actions. I am simply stating my own thoughts based on my experience.

This has been a sad few months, particularly today. One of my first dogs, Deluxe, passed away a few months ago due to old age. Today, Cinna, the dog I first got as a pup with Deluxe (and Sprite), passed away after a weeklong battle with stomach ulcers and extreme dehydration (she couldn't keep anything down, she even threw up the little bit of water she could drink). I de-wormed the kennel and she wasn't feeling good since then. The bottle said that some side effects could be lethargy and lack of appetite so we though that maybe the wormer didn't agree with her. My family just said to let it pass, let her get it out of her system. Only today I had enough and had my mom take her to the vet while I was at work. The vet informed us that she had stomach ulcers and the de-wormer aggravated it and she was very dehydrated. My mom took her home with some meds and at around 1pm she passed away. She was my whole world and wasn't even two years old yet.
