I was told Cinderella was an Easter egger when I bought her full grown but she looks like an Americauna to me. I know this is not the thread to post this but she has laid only one egg that had the lightest tint of blue to the point that it was almost white and since has only laid or should I say dropped three shell-less eggs from the roost. I am feeding an egg layer feed with oyster shells and crushed granite on the side she is free range. My

barred rock and not sure what my other hen is are laying beautiful eggs daily. I also live in Texas where we had 100+ temps for over a month. Any ideas what could be going on would be helpful.

Welcome to BYC! :frow

Once nutrition conditions have been met appropriately and not diminished by excess treats..

Shell-less eggs (under roost or random places) is a common new layer hiccup.. as the reproductive system is coming on line and working it's kinks out/synchronizing.

Thank you! I was really worried she was sick but isn’t acting sick. I feel a lot better now

I'm in SW New Mexico, and I feel your pain. Our hens really hate laying in the heat. Our egg numbers always drop by about half during the hot spells. Certainly could be heat.
The shell looks normal, if she's new to the flock, and laying while roosting, she may not be comfortable with the nest boxes. How recent were the roost-dropped eggs? Also, if she is free ranging, are you certain there aren't any random nests? We found these in the bamboo a couple of years ago.😬

Edit: I also wanted to mention, a lot of early eggs are lighter and often darken as the hen gets older.🙂

Thank you she does sit in the nesting boxes so I think she is ok with them. When she drops her eggs the most recent was last week they only have a membrane so I’m thinking it just feels like a poop to her. She is fairly young so another member pointed out that it maybe her system just coming online. Her first egg was the only one with a shell. But I will look for hidden nest the thought hadn’t crossed my mind that they might want to lay somewhere else. Thank you again
