Americauna- hen or roo??

Ameraucana is a consistent breed. You know exactly what you are getting in terms of coloring, temperament, size, laying rate, and egg color.
Easter Eggers have not been bred to meet any sort of breed standard, and there are absolutely no guarantees at all when it comes to Easter Eggers.

EEs are often labeled as "Americaunas" and Ameraucana. True Ameraucanas are usually fairly expensive as they're a rarer breed. There is no such thing as an "Americauna."

Excuse the spelling error....

You misunderstand. It's not your spelling error - stores misspell the breed name because they're not selling you the actual breed. What I'm trying to point out is some stores deliberately spell it "Americauna" because if they spelled it correctly (Ameraucana) then they're misrepresenting what they're selling, when what they're selling is Easter Eggers with a fancier name. Make sense?

Yes ma'am, I see. Not very nice. Stuff like that ticks me off. But about the spelling, I'm the grammar police in my house so I was like- AAAGGGHHHH I Spelled It Wrooooong!!

My feed store actually does label them as Easter Eggers, but even though I have one I hadn't planned on buying one. She was supposed to be a Sicilian Buttercup but the store had all the older chicks mixed together (and we were just grabbing for something from that age batch of chicks) and we ended up with the wrong breed. Oh well... our EE turned out to be a very sweet bird. Hubby still wants a Sicilian Buttercup so we'll try again in the future now that we're a little more knowledgeable about what to look for!
