Americauna: Hen or Rooster???

If Hot Rod is in fact a rooster, could he and our Silkie rooster live harmoniously if they grow up together??? We already love this chicken and would hate to see him go. :(

It really depends on their personality. Sometimes there can be some squabbles, but if there is some full blown fighting, you could create another pen for him and 'his girls'. I hope everything will work out for you. :)

Mines a little different coloring

That's a perfect example of the difference between a b/w cockerel and pullet. The OP's chick isn't even fully feathered and already has comb growth and reddening. But, I'd be suspicious even without that early comb development just because of the stark white wing patch. I really don't think this one is a maybe at all.

Over the last week, I have really watched their behavior and Hot Rod really seems to stay with his girls and the Silkie roo seems to stick to his little girl.
If they stay that way, we'll be okay. Fingers crossed!

We have 7 week old chicks and are beginning to wonder about this "gal"? Very different looking and acting. HUGE feet and extremely bossy with the others. Now it's the only one with a red comb? Any thoughts on the sex? Of course this happens to be one of my favorites:).

I had a bad feeling about that

. I have already put out a few emails looking for a new home for him. At least we are not in a rush since he has not started crowing yet! Thank you for the response!
