It was surprising to me to learn that Easter Eggers are actually much older than Ameraucanas. Amerraucana is a breed that was refined and lifted out of the EE gene pool, that's why they look so similar. I think what we need to fix is these lazy hatcheries that don't care that they are mislabling their EEs.
