I have on EE that has been a consistent layer, but all the rest have either stopped laying or are sporatic. I tried incubating the eggs from the one layer, but none were fertile.

In 2003-2004, the regular non-sale price for milk was $.99/gallon. It is now over $3.00/gallon. If my income had more than tripled since then, maybe I'd say that's a bargain. Not so!

Unfortunately, we are buying milk with an expiration date of today or else milk 'flakes' in a box. Middle income isn't what it used to be!

I remember paying less that $1/gallon for milk. I rarely buy milk anymore anyway, but those days are sure gone, aren't they? Poly, there AINT no more bargains, I'm with ya there!
My eggs are far superior to storebought at any price, that's a fact! I agree, Katy.

No matter WHAT price dairy products are, I'll NEVER complain. I married my wife not dairy cows. That's a 2X per day, 7 days/wk, 52 wks/yr for the rest of your life job...no thanks.

oh, I totally agree about the dairy thing. I admire the dairy farmer but at the same time think...what were you thinking to choose this profession??? LOL They deserve everything they get..sadly, they aren't the ones seeing the profit off the milk price. We are very, very fortunate that our neighbor does not have chickens to go along with his dairy. He gets two dozen eggs per week and I get all the fresh milk I want!!! Needless to say with the two of us, I will get one gallon every other week unless I am making cheese or yogurt then I get two gallons a week. I also make my own butter and mayonaise when I get two gallons..all thanks to this forum and the wonderful and talented Miss Prissy who has taught us to make wonderful homemade things.

Dairy farmers have an addiction to it. Friend of mine got out, wasn't 2 years later, back in...........has to be an addiction worse than drugs....

Just wondering what kind of lights you have? Are they full spectrum (artificial daylight)?

I got my first egg today, from my brown leg horn. It was a perfect shaped small off white egg. None of my others began laying yet. They were born in october. I was surprised to see that my brown leg horn laid. She was born in October. I was told that because of winter she would not lay until spring. Does this mean that she will keep ayig, or was it a luck of the straw I live in riverside californa?
