Currently she is strenuously objecting to having her butt felt and says I have to wait until bed time (another 30 minutes at least). I had her since a baby and no broken or torn feathers. Now I can't wait to check.

Ok . . . Your right! She has a tail bone! It is fully feathered though with the small soft kinda curled bottom feathers. None missing or broken or growing out. Just a regular abnomality (my oxymoron chicken???)? Here is her face .. .

I don't know what to tell you, but with those huge muffs that aren't tufts, and lack of tail feathers without being rumpless.... I think she is an Araucana wanna-be!

any chance she(or another hen) is breaking her feathers off? Mine do it to each other every now and then, they look like they are preening then half a feather falls

My EE Sunshine has no tail feathers, they were all pecked off by my brown leghorn that likes to eat feathers. Looks just like yours and lays bluish green eggs.

Aw she looks like a sweetheart. I'm glad she finally gave in and you got to feel her tailbone. Has she started laying? Since the object of the hatchery birds is egg color, and has been for many years, she could have all sorts of blue egglaying breeds in her background. She likely does have both araucana and ameraucana in her.

I would keep an eye on the girls and see if they are doing any feather picking. If you do not have supplemental calcium like oyster shell available put some out for them and maybe up the protien levels in their feed a little also. Check them for parasites, worms and such, and give them plenty to do, and then just keep an eye out and enjoy them.

LOL! Chicken Jake has come up with a new breed the . . . "Araucana-wanna-be!" Very closely realted to the Ameraucanna-wanna-be's.
No seriously that is just how her feathers are that's why I was asking. I've raised her from the beginning, her little stubby tail is fully feathered and no one in the flock feather picks (I'm with them most of the day) and plenty of calcium is offered free choice. She lays green eggs and the funny thing is (maybe this is common?) The bottoms of her feet are bright green - a real crack up when she runs, It looks like she walked in paint.
I love her and am very happy with her, just wanted to share.

I'm glad you did, I always enjoy the mixes. They can be so darn cute and there are some realy original ones out there. Some of them (like yours) do seem to get an extra dose of personality mixed in. Painted feet flashing as she runs off. I dont think I can get that image out of my mind. Now I have to go stare at the bottoms of my chicken's feet.
