Oh don’t worry, they will like it soon enough. Ducks are a menace.Maybe we should swap. The ducks don’t like water…

I hope not. I like them clean. They even perch at night. Maybe they had a chicken mom before I got themOh don’t worry, they will like it soon enough. Ducks are a menace.
Black d’Anvers are called black d’Anvers, not Belgian d’Anvers. All d’Anvers are Belgian, though I usually exclude the distinction since it’s too much work to write.Good morning. This thread just popped up on my feed because of something I posted.
My 13 year old is obsessed with quail d'Anvers, but only the Belgian (black) ones. We were sent the wrong ones early this spring and have lost many from other orders.
I have never seen so many poopy butts in 30+ years of having chickens! Even our Seramas are more resilient. I end up cleaning butts at least four times per day. Other breeds we have may get the occasional pasty booty, but these d'Anvers must think it's fashionable!
I can't wait for them to get bigger. View attachment 3103614View attachment 3103619View attachment 3103625

Do you sell hatching eggs?I just hatched 4 more d’Anver babies! I *think* I got 3 blues and 1 black. The black one just hatched an hour ago and is too wet to tell color. They’re so tiny and adorable alreadyMy two self blue are almost 4 weeks old now and I think there’s a chance I got a boy and a girl based on comb development. I’m hopeful that the attached is a girl or I hatched two boys

Wow. Where did you get them? And do you breed the milli flur? They are doing really well so far. They will be a year old in May. So far no illnesses or issues, they handled minneapolis winter with grace.
I paid for a dozen and they shipped 2 extra for a total of 14 eggs that were set. Six made it to hatch. The air cells in my eggs were a disaster. Couple yolkers, two early deaths, two late deaths. I ended up with 3 pullets, 3 cockerels. All the cockerels had major disqualifying faults, such as having zero beard or muff whatsoever, and an inverted spike comb. My hens look nice. They don't posture very often, and I think the porcelain in particular is always sort of gamey looking. They have beards but they lay sort of pasted to their chests instead of being robust and fluffy. These are my most recent photos of them. The red millefleur has the best personality of all my birds, she's very curious and tame. Her sisters however are cautious. I should mention, I have clipped the flight feathers on the bird's left wings. They are incredibly agile and can achieve full flight. I clipped them before they ended up places I couldn't retrieve them. I have a neighbor who's a very cranky man that doesn't speak english and the last thing I need is them jumping my fence lmao.
