Also Praline got Champion RCCL in junior class but there were only like half a dozen other birds. two being mine

This is my favorite carrier. It’s made for pigeons but perfect for d’Anvers. It was brightly painted by my grandma. (I think the Buckeyes might find it a bit cramped though.) They like sticking their heads through the cage. Look, Queeny’s been “impaled!”

Thanks! (Look how the cage spots were labeled. It helps to organize when you are bringing a lot of cages with birds back so they all fit like they should. And so you don’t forget anybody.)

I had lots of fun at Wisconsin International. I judged showmanship. Praline is showing off here but when the judge came around, she was so lazy she didn’t even beat her clearly not-so-show-quality sister Éowyn for best of variety. But how can I complain? Queeny got reserve junior RCCL!
Also, my Buckeyes got beat for best of breed by a pullet bred from a pair I sold to a kid last year at this very show. I’m slightly annoyed and very, very proud of that kid.

I got the APA yearbooks and this year they added a breed numbers. Show secretaries are encouraged (but not required) to fill out what breeds were entered and the quantities when they file their reports to the APA. So it’s very interesting to see what breeds were entered commonly and which were found rarely in APA shows.
From what I gathered, anything under 100 is somewhat rare and anything under 50 is very rare and could use some help.
So, what do you think is the most common poultry breed entered? What about second most common? This meaning LF and bantams are separate breeds, and it also includes ducks, geese, guineas, and turkeys.
What do you think was the most common LF breed entered? Second most common? Duck? What about geese, what was the most common goose breed?
After you guess, I’ll post the results.

Gosh I'm not sure. Most common LF would probably be something like Orp or RIR. Maybe BR or Wyandotte. For bantams I'm assuming OEGB or RIR.

Duck would probably Runner. Maybe Saxony or Cayuga.

Goose I'm thinking Pilgrim or Chinese.

That is so neat! I love the new number system.
