I got this chick from the feed store and she was labeled as an Amerucana, but she was the only one with this dark marking on her head, any ideas? Oh and am I spelling Amerucana right? I have a feeling i'm not...

Oh and am I spelling Amerucana right?

Not quite. It's Ameraucana, but we know what you mean.

Not sure about the chick. Has poufy cheeks, could be white as an adult, but no way to tell if it's an Ameraucana or EE yet, I don't think. Mark on the head is odd. Probably is a white EE.

Sorry you're not spelling it right. Ameraucana. The thing to remember is the AU - That's always the part people spell wrong.

If it is sold at a hatchery or feedstore, it is an Easter Egger. This cute little chick looks like it will have a color I cannot even guess on. Good luck.

I can guarantee you it is an Easter Egger - But if you're really curious, what color are its feet? Slate would mean it is possibly an Ameraucana, any other color and it is an Easter Egger. But, still, the closest that chick's down could come to is Wheaten or Blue Wheaten, but neither have a spot on their heads and both start to get brown wings. This one may just come out to have a sort of Red Pyle coloring, since its wing feathers aren't changing color.

You should get some nice green eggs from it if it is a pullet. Although of course, it is an EE afterall, so you may get brown eggs - But the comb looks pea to me.

Psshh that's perfectly fine - I didn't know much about combs until almost a year after I had chickens.

Pea combs are combs that have three rows of little bumps, little "peas." - In chicks it will be a wide comb with tiny little bumps, as contrasting to the Single Comb, which is the typical look of a saw or a bunch of little teeth.
