So cool. I haven't worked on mine lately been busy w/ two crochet block swaps.

Here's the pattern, hope it's easy enough to understand!

Bird Kitty Toy

What you need:
4.25mm hook
100% cotton yarn(WW)
scissors
yarn needle

Form a Magic Ring
Round 1
: Ch1 in ring, 8sc in ring, sl st to top of ch1 to join. (8sc)

Round 2: Pull ring closed. Working over the tail, Ch1, 2sc in each sc around, sl st to top of first sc to join. (16sc)

Round 3: Ch1, [2sc in first sc, 1sc in next] around. Sl st to top of first sc to join. (24sc)

Round 4: Ch1, 1sc in first sc, [2sc in next sc, 1sc in next two sc] around. sl st to top of first sc to join. (32sc)

Round 5: Ch1, sc in next two sc [2sc in next sc, 1sc in next three sc] around. sl st to top of first sc to join. (40sc)

Round 6: Join new color if desired. Fold circle in half at current stitch.

BEAK: Ch4 and turn, sl st into each ch space(3sl st).
Round 6 cont.: Now we will start to close the circle. Working through BOTH sides of the circle(2sc at same time), 1sc in first sc from hook, sc in next 14 sc 'pairs'. At this point we want to stop and stuff the bird(poly fill, yarn scraps, whatever you want!) through the space that's not closed up. When finished stuffing, Ch3, sc in next sc sp, ch4, sc in next sc sp, ch5, sc in next sc space, ch6, sc in last sc space. (3sl st, 18sc, 18ch's).

Finish off & weave in tail through the tip of the 'butt'(this makes the tail sit higher). Add eyes if desired.

Finished bird measures approximately 4.5" from beak to tail.

I will try to get the other patterns posted up soon!

OK so I just spent about 2 hours checking out amigurumi online. You have to google "a crochet ninja" her blog is too cute.

I am totally interested in doing a teddy bear. What kind of yarns are you guys using?

Another good site is planetjune.com, For me the type of yarn I use depends on the project and how big I want it, for really small detailed projects I use a four ply but the skinny four ply like baby yarn or similar type yarn. When you are a beginner I find it easier to use the stiffer yarn and not the super soft stuff, you can switch to the super soft stuff as you get the hang of it. A good practice piece is on planet june it is the whale and it is a free pattern

The yarn I am using is Caron simply soft in bone color, but this is my first one so not sure if it was a good choice or not. I chose it b/c it was closest to flesh color I could find in my local Wally world and was thinner, I got one of the cotton yarns back up if this one was to soft, but didn't need to use it. I am using a small hook size 3-3.25
