Amish Friendship Bread

If you pay postage I can send you a cup to get you started with. But you have to promise to be diligent and keep it going. I have been growing my starter since August.

Here is the choclate brownie like bread I make with it.

Back home in Georgia my house was surrounded by very old pecan trees. I always had tons and tons of fresh pecans. We did pecan brittle, honey roasted pecans, all sorts of pecan candy and my favorite pecan pie. Up here I have black walnuts and they taste aweful.

The chcolate bread looks good, I may have to come over for the holidays MP.

Though the starter looks kind of scary.. and I'd be afraid it would take over during the night or something. Could just be because I've never had any bread but bread from the store.

MP, you have given me a brilliant idea.. I am going to start some of this today. It should be ready to use by Thanksgiving, right?

Yep.

It makes a great gift if you keep adding to it every 5 days. I put it in jars with a ribbon and tag along with a recipe card to make the chocolate brownie type bread.
