And all the amish I know use nothing other than sex links and don't free range them. I have seen alot of hens crammed into relatively small quarters, but do have 'outside' runs.
Yeah, the Amish around here do free range, but I know that their stuff in most definitely not organic in the least bit. I would say about 90% of them all use fertilizer and pesticides, around here they are some of the worst offenders of pesticides actually. As for the animals it ranges from each farm. I know the man I buy our chicken feed from, BlueSeal not his, use to own 1500 chickens at a time and he has no room for them except a very large barn, they were not free ranged. It all depends.
I'm really sorry that the Amish people that I was associated with many years ago were so much different than the ones now. Things change,I guess.
