. I was looking fanatically! I couldn't find her!! and where was she? She was was in the bushes. what a relief!

I would have had a heart attack on the spot- glad things turned out okay.

That certainly does sound terrifying!
I'm so glad they are okay.

If a dog approached my flock, I'm afraid they wouldn't run and hide. They are so used to my (chicken friendly) dogs, they probably wouldn't even move if any other dog came around.

My chicken has been siting on the roof of their coop when it comes night. I'm always worried since we have owls, raccoons but the one thing I worried the most is the COYOTES!!! they come around ALOT and once tried to steal one of my neighbors little dog.

We've all had lucky breaks with our chickens :O
Recently, my sweet Wellie got stuck outside, and I didn't even notice!!
My poor baby was stuck outside all night, but didn't get taken thank goodness

Oh dear, so glad all your babies are okay. Back a few months ago, in the days when our girls free-ranged all day, a neighbor's beagle came and nearly wiped out every single one of our chickens and ducks. What scared me the most was that while I was in the process of scaring the dog away, he ran behind one of the barns out of my sight, and a blood curdling chicken scream ensued. It didn't help that just as this happened, I found a large pile of feathers in a different part of the yard. Once he was gone, I searched the yard, crying, for any survivors or bodies. The 9 ducks and about 14 chickens (this is including 5 caged chicks) were in the coop hiding, but all the rest failed to appear. Then, two chickens came out from hiding underneath a small pine tree, and a couple seconds later, all the rest of the flock (about 13) flooded out of the cornfield straight to us. God was merciful and spared our precious, loved, and much doted-on flock, and I will never take it lightly.

Oh man. I could've lost my whole flock today.

Was walking upstairs to hitch the laundry basket... looked outside...
Saw our Backyard GATE OPEN

Saw a BIG GERMAN SHEPHERD near the fence

Looked everywhere for the chickens... couldn't FIND them

Ran outside, grabbed something to protect my chickens... shut the gate immediately...
Looked all around the yard; and finally, you know what?

They were tucked in some shrubbery clucking at me, confused why I was running around the yard like a madwoman.

Gave me a heart attack, it was so scary. Had I not noticed then... that dog may have made quick work of the flock.

My random story for today.
