Amount of food and price?

I will be having 36 chickens, and I am wondering how much it is going to cost me to keep them fed happily. 28 laying hens, 7 roosters, will let them out during the day. Approximate cost??

Rough, rough estimates.

Number of chickens, divide by 4. (4 chickens eating a pound per day). 9 pounds per day, times 30 days, nets 360 pounds per month. If you can buy feed at a local mill, priced at $20-$22 a hundred, nets roughly $75-$80 per month.

Again, really rough numbers, but somewhere to start anyhow.

Good luck. Why seven roosters? If you're trying to break even selling table eggs then those roosters are going to cost you 25% more in feed.
