So I obtained these 3 a little while ago as' araucana chicks'.. allegedly purebred and from the same hatch but I am sure beginning to suspect that may not be the case šŸ˜…

Any clue what's going on here? Pretty sure the little brown one is a pullet at least but the grey and black are confusing the heck out of me. I assume there's some other breed in the mix here, & any clue as to gender?? Both are acting fairly roostery, maybe the grey one is just developing a lil slow?
I may need to rescue the brown one soon!

(Ignore their sebright friend)

Yeah was pretty confident the black one is a rooster haha
Does it look like a purebred araucana? I'm new to the breed.

The tan one is so tiny compared to the grey (like 400g smaller), and has such a long tail in comparison. The greys is so much shorter than the other two which I thought was an early sign of rooster in some breeds?

Pretty rare to get actual Arucauna bc they have a genetic issue where many chick s die before hatch. Bc of this self-limiting issue, the ā€œAmeraucanaā€ breed was developed. This is different than the mixed ā€œAmericanaā€ EE chicken. The APA Ameraucana breed has Arucauna in its heritage and has a breed standard.

True Arucauna have long ear tufts, and do not have the usual chicken tail. If you have an APA breed standard book, there are details on each breed, why and how they were developed, etc.

First one is obvious cockerel, second one is also a cockerel, and third one is a pullet. There is no Sebright in those pictures, by the way. If you are talking about the one with golden and black feathers, that is an Easter Egger. Sebrights are true bantams, clean-faced (no muffs and no beard), and come in two color varieties: golden-laced and silver-laced. Your Easter Egger does not have proper lacing.
