an off topic, less moderated 18+ section?

Just a thought. other forums have a section for adults that isnt moderated as heavily, usually its in the off topic section. I believe that having a place to express ourselves and have regular old conversation would be very beneficial. Not only would it help keep some of the banter out of various threads it would give those 18+ a place to be that was theres and we could debate real issues without fear of it getting out of hand and offending certain peoples sensibilities . For example religious talk is not supposed to be allowed according to the byc forum rules but you have many religious threads, they would all be at home in the less moderated section.. just a thought

I mean, one of the reasons I started trolling the chicken and homesteading forums is that I was tired of people arguing about those topics.

@Melky there is already an off topic for off topic discussion, its not like that would be a new thing, there would just be a place that adults didnt have to walk on eggshells. people talk about all of these things I mentioned earlier already all over the site, it muddies up threads, gets people off topic and causes frustration then people get warnings etc just for having an adult conversation. If you didnt want to have access to it you wouldnt have to go into it. Nobody would be forcing anybody into conversation, it would just be a safe place to have a thought and it would help keep all the trash out of the rest of the forums.

Some people enjoy talking politics. And some get very heated about it. I'd be happy if it were in a thread that I knew to avoid. I just wouldn't click on it.
My own sister dirties my FB thread with her political garbage. I can't un-friend my sister (although I'd like to some days, when she gets on a roll! lol)
But if those discussions were in their own place, it would be a door I'd never open!

I don’t see the relevance, the need, or how it relates to animal husbandry. I know we have off topic sections gardening, baking, other farm animals etc. because chicken enthusiasts typically have other interests as it relates to farm to table. I don’t need another site for adults to behave badly. I see too much of this on FB and hide the posts if see them too political, religious, or poor use of the English language. This drives people off the sites. I don’t ban or unfriend on FB but frequently feel the need to hide posts. I go to FB to socially connect with family or friends and appreciate family friendliness.

@Melky I'm not saying we need a place to behave badly, you are taking it to an extreme. I simply said a less moderated section that we could have more adult conversations and not influence the younger people with our ideas. as you yourself said chicken enthusiast typically have other interests.

just because you don't want it doesn't mean it wouldn't benefit others.. all things on this site are not moderated equally.

I dont do FB or any other social media and i'm very close to leaving BYC
