It's documented that chaining dogs leads to frustration, rage and agression in dogs. It's so much of a problem, especially in places like California where the dog fighting problem is out of control, that there are places that are working on making chaining illegal. I don't want to hear from any of you that you chain your dog and he's okay- I think the people here probably don't chain thier dogs day and night with weights attached to them like the people I am talking about. Anyways, it's always jerks who ruin things for everyone else, isn't it? As for the chain breaking, these people who chained the dog probably didn't even bother to get a good fastner to link the chain together, thats probably why it broke. I have a bully dog and pound for pound the strongest dog I have ever seen, but he couldn't break a solid logging chain, but he could break a cheap collar buckle, or a snap fastener or he could pull wire apart. Bullies are strong AND persistant. But bullies do not have superpowers, so I would bet money on 3 things: Broke collar or Broke snap/wire/fastener or chain was flimsy, poor condition/rusty.
