An Open Letter to Significant Others (a RANT)

Dang! He makes a pretty hot Johnny Depp! Kind of better looking and not as mean looking as Daryl Dixon though... But, still wouldn't want to come across him on a walk in the woods... My daughter does cosplay, mostly from the Final Fantasy game series, so I know how much work you have to do to create a costume like that... I produced a few of her earlier ones while she was in high school, but after the last complicated Chinese thing, I told her this was her hobby and mine was raising chickens and sheep... So now she does her own... Anyway, great job! I could hardly tell he wasn't Jack Sparrow... He could seriously get hired at Disneyland!
Thank you. I didn't make the Jack Sparrow leather pieces those were ordered. But the wig and clothing I made. The Daryl outfit I made everything but the pants and crossbow which is the same model Daryl used in the early seasons of TWD. I want happy with his Daryl, he looked like Jack Sparrow dressed up as Daryl Dixon hahaha. He didn't like it at all at first but really enjoys cosplay now. He has already demanded a Severus Snape outfit but I want him to do Tonto from Lone Ranger. I think he is tired of being molested by ladies at comicon and wants a more somber character lol!
I'm currently busy on a 7 foot tall realistic anamatronic rooster suit for myself. It will have moving wings, tail, fully articulated neck and head and have a silicone and real feather face with LED eyes. I have no idea why I do these things lol. But it's something fun we can enjoy together and I also enjoy doing the photography of our adventures

I don't know about Snape not turning on the ladies ... a lot of us seriously go for the "deep and mysterious" characters ... especially ones that are "closet good guys!"

You do really fantastic work! My son cosplays when he can afford it. I wish I had pics, but he's been the Engineer from Team Fortress 2, Naked Snake from the Metal Gear franchise, Zee Captain from Romantically Apocalyptic, Spike from Cowboy Bebop, among others. My fave was when he dressed as PSY (of Gangnam Style fame). But even his best doesn't hold a candle to your creations!!!

Forgot to add that I've cosplayed as Snape, Rosie the Riveter, and Obi Wan. Lol!

Engie is my FAVORITE Team Fortress 2 player! My son is a TF2 addict. A couple of years ago, he did Halloween as the Red Spy. We made a few extra masks so he could switch them around at the party. It wasn't super fancy, but it was pretty cool!

You have a seriously awesome crew. Broadway? Hollywood? Something in the Park? Don't let that talent go to waste!!!

This thread has really made me smile... thank you @Aunt Angus there’s so much love and humor here, and I’m sure most of us in relationships “get” it. You can love someone like crazy, and have a great relationship and still sometimes just want to smack them upside the head with an itty bitty frying pan, or maybe a bigger one if you can’t find cast iron! Sometimes a little venting is good for the soul, and the marriage!

@EggWalrus my heart goes out to you, such a hard situation. Love and prayers for you and your wife to get to a better place. And lashing out in anger is so sadly common in these situations. My husband’s grandfather, and now his father seems to be slipping down the same road. Remember that she isn’t really angry at you, regardless of her actions and words, she’s hurting and confused and lashing out because of it. The Daughter is being explorative and I would also encourage you to reach out for whatever elder care/legal options/support you have available to you. :hugs

Thank you to everyone else for sharing their experiences with Dementia and Alzheimer’s and junkie entitled brats as well. There’s strength and support in community, and knowing that others are going through similar situations is helpful.

May we all end up in better places, and not with eggs in our slippers (because sometimes I know my DH feels that way about me too!)

@Elsveta641 those are some awesome costumes, have you ever considered the 501st? I get too annoyed with the group politics, but DH is a member...

Exactly, Snape was my daughters favorite character back when she read those books... I'm sure he would be sadly disillusioned if he thought he could reduce his popularity with that outfit... IMO, anyway...

Iv'e nearly laughed my cheeks sore reading this thread kudos @Aunt Angus for starting it. :)

I can't add much, iv'e had this "problem" for 24 years.
I just do things myself now, it turns out to be easier than asking for help.
If I don't know how, I learn.
This has had an unexpected side effect....he now OFFERS to help.
Turns out having his 100lb wife throw her own feed bags over her shoulder in front of people is a chivalry jiggler.
Also probably a little scary.:D
