Hello BYC, I just let my chickens out to free-range for a bit, and I noticed that my White Leghorn had an oversized crop. I am worried because it can fit in the palm of my hand. (very concerning) Does anyone know what is going on, or does anyone have any advice for me?

My leghorn roosters looked like they had tumors after they ate when they were younger. If she is acting otherwise fine, check her first thing in the morning before she eats and see if it's flat. If so, she's just a piggie.

This!!!!

Thanks, I feel better. She is the one who follows me around, begging for treats. 😅

That's a brown leghorn roo when he was quite young. Every morning it would be flat again. He has grown into his crop and I don't notice it as much.

Mine have had huge crops right before bedtime. Wonder how they stand upright without tipping forward type huge.
As long as they’re flat in the morning, I never worry about it.
