An ugly Motley Crew - but what are they? 15 pounders!!!

Here are updated photos of my Motley Crew - not so motley anymore - in fact, huge and beautiful. The size of turkeys. It's amazing what 5 months of freeranging can do. The pics don't do them justice. Three are red and one is black. Almost all have a crooked middle toe but it doesn't slow them down any.

Still not sure of breed but they must be some sort of broiler. They are running with our free range hens and 14 roosters all together but I always know which babies are theirs because the baby chicks have the same huge legs and get big really fast.

And here's one of their babies - 8 weeks old.

Anyone have any idea yet as to what they are?

Yep, still have all 5. 4 are big fat roos. The girl seemed to turn into a RIR and I can't tell which one she is now. She never was huge like the boys were when I first got them.

I think the birds "sort of" have a meat bird look to them, but I think they've got more of a "mutt" bird look than anything else. I think you may need to wait for them to feather out properly.

Thanks. They are twice the size and bulk of any of my other roos including roos that are much older than them. I tried to lift one once and I swear it had to be 20 pounds. I feel so bad for the little hens when one of these guys does his thing.

For perspective, I need to get a pic with them next to my biggest Barred Rock. The BRs rule around here though are half the size of these guys and it's funny, these 4 big huge roos are lowest on pecking order. The hens even run them off.
