I just had this tiny egg laid today and I think it may have been my ancona is this the white they lay normally? She is flighty but never mean to any of the chooks under her in the pecking order she seems to be the only one who doesn't care about a pecking order!

thats some size difference.....first egg? kinda cute......The established hens i have lay a fairly large, close to jumbo but not quite egg with a matte finish. They are more torpedo oval (my Barnevelders lay more of a shiny golf ball).

Thanks! I just emailed them about 20 minutes ago!

I have 5 old hens that need a roo if I can't find eggs or chicks. I like brooding in fall/winter, so they lay in spring. But it's hard to find anything when I'm finally ready to go shopping!

i'm with you. i like to raise fall chicks, too.

I went ahead and ordered some hatchery chicks on Monday until I can find what I want. They will be fine for my free range laying flock. They arrived just 24 hours later and are doing well!

We eat egg eaters around here. But there are things you can try. There are dozens of threads on here about egg eating. Just do a search. Any breed can do it so that info will apply to your Anconas. Good luck!
