Hi all! I got this sweet chick out of a mystery bin at the mercantile. She is 4 weeks old. My guess is Ancona, does this seem like what she is to you experts out there? The baby feathers on her head are still a yellowish color, but her new feathers coming in are white (mixed in with the black). Thank you for your help!!

I think you are right.

Hey all I'm trying to determine if this could be an ancona pullet. Any input appreciated!



 
Yeah that's what I thought, she looked much different a few weeks ago lol. I had posted an old picture of her and was told she looked like an Ancona at that point but I had my doubts. She does have some white one her but I don't think she has enough that she will end up mottled. I had only heard of blue Andalusians not black but black Andalusians aren't one of the breeds the lady had anyhow. She got a mixed batch from Mcmurray and resold some of them. I'm thinking, out of the black breeds she had, that my closest match atm is white faced black Spanish.

when you breed blue to blue, you get black blue and splash.
 
My roommate and I just went to the feed store and they had Anconas so we got one along with a Jersey Giant and an Amerucana. Our Ancona- Sophie- seems to be pretty nervous. Any suggestions on taming her a bit?



My new babies! SO excited!
 
Do you have pics? I was thinking out of the breeds the lady had that my best assumption is wfbs.
