Ancona Chicken Thread

You could try Julie at Gabbard Farms, she is who I got my AC from as hatching eggs -she now sells chicks as well. http://www.gabbardhatchingeggs.com/

Good morning I hope someone out there can help me out. Over the winter I lost my ancona rooster so now I have four hens and nothing to breed them with. I love this breed and want to propagate more but am out of luck right now. So if anyone has a rooster out there and is willing to ship let me know. If not I would be willing to buy hatching eggs, the sooner the better, but I will take what I can get. Thanks in advance.

I think I remember AC having a really pretty chirp - so I would say yes. But not to worry - they will be bokking and squawking with the best of them soon enough ;)

Tonini, I have 2 Ancona, but they're only 6 weeks old.

I'm curious though, these 2 chicks tend to have very musical voices, they tend to trill and sing more like songbirds than chickens. Is this common?

Adorable!

Thought I'd post a photo of our first RC Anconas for the 2012 season. It's a mixed group of Anconas and White Dorkings. They're growing well, and there's already a second hatch in the brooder. They should be hatching weekly on each Sunday. Our goal is to hatch 100 chicks to raise here before beginning to sell stock. Check out their little rose combs

Thank you, but alas -she is still keeping me waiting. On Tuesday she will turn 31 weeks old - I am wondering if she's trying to hit the 1 year mark before laying. The rooster is still mating her and she peeks at the nest box, but hasn't tried to get in it lately. She seems very jealous that her hatchmate Smokey went broody and hatched out 3 adorable chicks. I've looked around and there are no hidden egg nests - so hopefully she will start now that spring is in the air.

Here she is on her birthday this past Tuesday at 30 weeks old. Her hatchmate is in the corner with her adopted babies, 2 Wellies & 1 AM

Man, I wish you were closer, I have 5 roos from last Aug. Only keeping one.

Yellow House, adorable babies!

bobbie, nice lookin' gal. Here's hoping the eggs follow shortly.

Greetings! As some on this thread had requested information regarding availability of started chicks, I just wanted to let you know that we've updated our 2012 offerings on our website.

Best,

Joseph
