Ancona Ducks

No call eggs here yet, but I lost 2 hens & my drake to the cold before getting the 4 remaining hens moved to the garage. Nothing will be fertil anyway until I get my little boy replaced.

Oh man :( sorry for that! Been a lot of livestock deaths this year due to the harsh weather.

A friend in IL had a couple ducks freeze to their pond. Took them a couple days before they were able to get them out :(

My friend made the mistake of giving hers warm water right before bed. She came out the next morning to find the hen with her chest feathers frozen to the bowl & her drake's tail feathers frozen to the other side of the bowl. Took her over an hour to defrost the poor babies & get them loose. Both were fine. Just not happy.

Finally got my game farm license and picked up TWENTY Anconas yesterday!!!!

So excited they should start laying in June. Have blues, chocolates, blacks, possible lavenders or silvers (these ones are babies so not sure yet)

What color is the hen up front?

The male behind her is chocolate (believe it or not, super dark, but definitely chocolate) and the two besides her are blues.

They are 3 months old.

She looks like a light chocolate or fawn from the color of the pic but she could be silver if she's lighter than my phone is showing.

I'll try to get better pictures. She looks closest to "lilac" on worth it farms page.

She came from worth it farms (my friend bought the 5 ducklings when they were hatchlings and I bought them from her)
