Ususally, if you place eggs in the incubator all together, assuming they were collected around the same time, you SHOULD get them to pip together. So when you candle them, if you have a few that haven't pipped internally while the others have, then they MIGHT be upside down in the shell. Those are the "red flags" when I hatch.
I will take them out of the carton a few times a day just to be sure they haven't pipped at the wrong end. If they do, then I lay them on their side and let them hatch that way.
The last ones I hatched (I had 37 eggs) only 1 was upside down. And I caught it just as the shell was slightly pipped. So it made it just fine with the rest
