Yes, our have started up again. It was also about a 3 month break here, with a shorter break this summer. We are getting 6-8/day. Will be checking fertility this next week. The breeders are all split up and we will able to start shipping out hatching eggs soon. If anyone is interested, but not already on the list, PM me your info. Looks like the new year is starting off FAST!

I got some hatching eggs off Ebay last April and wound up with 1 drake and 5 hens. I kept the drake and 2 of the hens. One of them has been laying an egg a day for almost two weeks now. At first she was laying them in random spots and at random times. It took a week or so but I convinced her to lay them in the nest box by 8 am. I hope the other girl starts laying soon.

I can't wait to have a flock of anconas. They remind me of my blue merle aussies.

I have a dozen eggs coming this week from ebay and another dozen ordered with AuroraSprings, although not sure when I will receive them yet. I am new to ducks and hatching eggs, but figure if use the proper equipment and buy enough eggs, I improve my odds for successfully hatching at least a few ducklings.

I bought the Blue and Lavender Ancona from Plum Run, and I have to say I was really disappointed with amount of color on the blues.

"Luckily", the blues are all drakes, so they are slated to be culled. I also received a crested, all white and pencilled. The Lavenders or Silvers or whatever they may be, are ok...I still think a bit over marked but not too bad. I kept the all white female in hopes to reduce the amount of color a bit.

Also, I ordered 10 day old ducklings and I received 2 that were a week old. We live close enough so they were in transit for only a day, but I still that was a bit odd, especially since I wasn't expecting it.

I looking forward to bringing in new blood from elsewhere, I do love these ducks and am excited to add more color.

So how can you determine if these are Silver or Lavender?

You could try posting high quality photos of them next to the blues AND/OR breed them.

Silver X Silver = all Silver and Blue
Lavender X Lavender = all Lavender & Chocolate

Blue X Silver = Black, Blue, Silver
Blue X Lavender = all colors

(Someone correct me if I'm wrong, this was written hastily)
