Ancona Ducks

I got hatching eggs from nanthala in NC. I LOVE them.

Mine have always just gone in at night by themselves. When they were little we use to have food and water in there, so at night they would go in to eat and we would just shut the door behind them. Now I just wait until it starts to get dark and go out and most of the time they are inside. There has been a few times they have given us trouble. There coop is in the side yard which is fenced off, so I herd them to the side yard and shut the fence, then they are in the coop within an hour and I go shut the door.

lucky my hens coop is right infront of the backdoor ill try putting them away closer to 7pm today mabye if it gets darker i won't have such a problem

When it gets dark they are pretty easy to get. A few times are ducks weren't in at night and I went out to grab them and they can't see as well at night, easy to grab

I don't even need to grab them. Just start at a young age herding them into their house by dusk. Routine is the key with ducks as they are creatures of habit. Once they're used to it they will all go by themselves.

But even when it's already dark when you put them away, just talk to them and guide their way with a flashlight. They will walk into the light themselves as they can see there and it is not as scary in the light.
