Ancona Ducks

I don't even need to grab them. Just start at a young age herding them into their house by dusk. Routine is the key with ducks as they are creatures of habit. Once they're used to it they will all go by themselves.

But even when it's already dark when you put them away, just talk to them and guide their way with a flashlight. They will walk into the light themselves as they can see there and it is not as scary in the light.

yeah no luck their i treated them like chickens growing up i didn't let anyone free range until they where at least 16 weeks old which worked wonderfully with the chickens they roosted in their coop all their own the ducks how ever didn't do the same. but i like the flashlight idea i think i try that tonight because if i can't get them in their house at night by my self they won't get any free ranging time in yard

Aww! So big now! Have yours started laying? We ended up with two boys and only one girl :( and she hasn't laid an egg yet. I'm waiting.........

We let one of our broody chicken hens hatch some ancona eggs. Yesterday 3 hatched & last night she was still sitting on 4 more. Haven't gone out yet this morning to check if any more hatched.

What age do Ancona's start laying? Mine are around 5-6 months old and I haven't seen any eggs yet. Plus momma hasn't started back up either.
