Ancona Ducks

Pics
Beautiful, Rose!!! I talked to the seller who said the white ducklings he has hatched have "always" gotten spots. I'm excited to see how my ducky turns out. If it turns out to be a drake with light coloring, I will be a very happy camper!!

I have been emailing a lady who raised all colors of Ancona ducks. She said that the ones that she has hatched that were white turn out to be silver. She said they are typically white until they are 6-7 months old and feather in with their adult feathers. So maybe you have a silver duckling?

Do Anconas lay black eggs? I separated my anconas from the rest of my flock to see if they are going to lay. They were separated for about 3 days, and I got this black speckled egg from their pen yesterday, and another just like it today. I have never gotten eggs like this before. I also have cayuga, but they usually lay black eggs that are smaller than this one. I have it next to one of my pekin eggs just for size and color comparison. It is large and very pretty!

Anyone else have colorful Ancona eggs?

Hey leary! My ancona hen lays gray eggs, but when I scrub them, the gray comes off, and the egg is then white. Try scrubing it.

The gray is usually an outer coating on the egg that hens will lay when they haven't been laying for a while as they lay more eggs it usually goes away, but not always some just lay colored eggs like that.

Hi duckgirl! How are your Anconas doing? I see you have started collecting eggs to incubate! Please let me know how they do. If they end up fertile and you have extras to sell, please keep me in mind!

Hey Leary, I really hope so!! I promise to update with pics as he/she grows up.

I have received 2 dozen ancona hatching eggs. The first set I got were all white. The 2nd set I got are 6 white and 6 really pretty blue-ish color. The 2nd set is on day 14 in my bator and all 12 are developing.

the anconas are fantastic! I have 1 egg so far! She isn't laying that well yet, 1 egg every 3 days. She will pick up when it gets warmer though. When she starts up better I will let you know! But I wanna make sure they are fertile before I start selling any eggs.

I think it's so cool the way their eggs are different colors. Has anyone ever kept track to see if different egg colors are consistent with chick color?

@ AuroraSprings - I recently got 6 eggs from you. Their hatch date is the 26th. I never have great luck with shipped eggs, but ALL 6 ARE DEVELOPING!!! I have to say that I've never seen eggs packaged as well, and as carefully, than these were! Thank you, thank you, thank you!
