Ancona Ducks

Pics
Here is another pic of my favorite drake. He's recently been kicked out of the flock by the other drakes.

I have some girl babies coming from Celtic this week, so eventually he'll have his own flock.

This guy is great!

And CelticOaks' ducklings are lovely. Their looks change so dramatically when their wings grow in. What colors are in there CelticOaks?

I recently changed up my flock pretty dramatically by culling what had been my 2 main drakes. The latest generation had some boys that had more size to them, which is what I've been wanting. My keeper drakes are good guys, markings are nice, they are two blacks and a blue. I was quite attached to my foundation boys... but stood side-by-side with the younger fellows, there was just no question. I have good color in the hens, and everyone's markings are balanced pretty well.

Thanks all, we are pleased. I know there is a chocolate, then we have three very pale so guessing lavender or silver there. A bunch of black and whites and the little one who looks blue to me who is going to Amy today.

Amy they are eating like champs this morning. Going to put a small baggy of Mazuri in the box too for you to help transition them to your feed. I feed the Mazuri wet the first couple of days to get them eating well, them switch to dry.

I don't know if it's the photo or their actual coloration but I can't get over how WHITE the baby fluff is. It's nice to get a duckling fix this time of year. And I want the swirly blue kiddo :)

Thats their colorations, everyone has had a bath (yesterday) with an extra soft toothbrush to remove any stickies or loose fluff. Cuts down on the down fluff flying around the house since we have these in here until they ship.

You got snow??? Ugg, it didn't snow here but I know it's coming.
I will be putting some Ancona eggs in the incubator as a test batch either tomorrow or the next day. I'm anxious to see what hatches!

It's just been sputtering this morning... enough to not melt on the outdoor boot rug, but not collecting anywhere else. Amelia had loads of fun trying to catch the tiny flakes on her tongue.

Randy told me it's also snowing up in Farmington, where he works.

Exciting about the eggs!! I can't wait to see what hatches either! (Yesterday, I almost asked you about Anconas and letting them hatch their own, but decided to do some research first over Winter before bugging you!
