Ancona Ducks

Pics
Here are some pics of our Anconas (and a few others hanging out with them now).

First, a comprison of the light vs. darker anconas I've got. Trying to pin down color for the greyish one.
the off color is the 2nd from Left in this bunch of Anconas (and one indian runner)

light vs dark ancona close up

Black Ancona vs.
Silver? Ancona.....

What do you think? I'd lie to know the classification of this drake.
That looks blue to me, or maybe lavender? It's hard to tell from the pic. I think silver is A LOT lighter than that, though....

The duck looks lavanderish from a distance. But, I've never had a lavander or a blue before, so I can't really say. I may have to go google a silver. I know the feathers are a light to medium gray, with darker gray edging.

Does this pic make it easier now? 2nd duck from the left, front row between two rather dark anconas with black jackets. Maybe lavander or blue.

Anyone have a pic of a blue vs lavander ancona, so I can see what they look like? What is the duck on the right in your post 492.....?

AuroraSprings/Worth It Farms has a good color reference: http://worthitfarms.jigsy.com/ancona-colors
Lavander then, i'd say. Not a blue, to my eye. Still interested in the thoughts of others.

Also, didn't know the blue/green sheen was desirable, I have a black male with great sheen, so I'll keep him for sure now. He's also well marked, and a good size. Thanks for this awesome link!

Yes, this ducks color is concentrated in the saddle under the wings. sort of medium gray, with darker gray edging, when you get close up. In post 491, which maybe where you are looking, in the second pic, I've spread its wings a bit, so that's probably the best color pic, as the close up is very close, and mostly shows feather detail.

Honestly, its all Gray to me, just lighter or darker versions.

From what I can see, he looks blue to me. The pic of the pair of ducks I posted is a blue (right) and either lilac or lavender on the left. He kept darkening as he got older and molted.

The "blue" looks gray to me, too. The lavender and lilac, to me, look like a lighter gray with brown tones.
