Ancona Ducks

Starting to think my duck Elsa might be an undercover drake! Not sure if her quack is raspy or not. Ana is deffinitly louder, but both don't quack much. Elsa is also about twice as big as Ana. Do Ancona drakes get the drake feather? I guess that's how I'll know for sure when the time comes. They were vent sexed, but possible to make a mistake.

Also Elsa's neck is thicker. I think Ana is on the small side though. She pretty little.

yes, ancona drakes do get a drake feather. Typically around 16 weeks.

Some of this years juvies. I have some tri colors, whites, blacks, and blues for sale if anyone is looking (mostly males left). Colors have been awesome this season as well as some great body types and chest coloring. The years of selective breeding are starting to pay off!

So I have an update on my three plus some really awesome news! So here they are first of all..

first up is Lucky my drake laid on valentines day and hatched on st. Patricks day.

in front of lucky is Eugene she gets a lovely beetle green sheen to her feathers though it's muggy out today so it's hard to see

then here is Mighty my older female.. She and Eugene were hatched the same day a day before lucky but she was hatched way earlier and was much bigger than most of the others.

and this is them together being curious of why I got the back door open..

And now for my news

Mighty laid her first egg!, woo hoo.. Lucky hasn't figured out what to do with the girls yet so these are all for the dinner table.. But I'm so happy they are finally producing. ^_^
