Ancona Ducks

Thanks. So maybe my best option is to raise them together until they are older and see if he is OK with them? If there is a chance that can happen, then I'd happily keep him.
I'd raise them up and see how he acts. The young drakes are more aggressive than an aged drake as the hormones take over right at first and they don't know what they're doing. You'd have to wait it out till a couple months after mating season starts so you can see how he'll be.

OK - one thing I didn't mention is that I am planning to keep them in a moveable cage that is about 5x12 feet in size unless I am around at which time I will let them roam the yard. Do you think the cage will provide the ducks with enough space to try to evade the drake or is it too confining?

It will probably depend on the drake. We ended up with two drakes and one duck, one drake was to aggressive and we got rid of him first, then we had one drake and one duck. Are ancona drake (the one we kept) was a total sissy, are duck was definitely more in charge, so that worked for us. However it absolutely wouldn't have worked with the other drake. It's one of those things were you will just need to wait and see. Good luck and please post pictures! Ancona ducklings are so adorable!

I always go by 10 Sq ft per bird minimum. That's a 60 Sq ft pen so it should be ok.

Hello! When 6 of my boys (2 Khakis at the time, 2 Rouens, & 2 Pekins) began picking on my 2 Runners (the smallest boy and my only girl at the time) almost too much, Calypso and Cuddles (who does not cuddle) got brought in. They healed up quite nice. They went back to the flock with only minor problems. Then 2 more girls arrived, Daisy (a Pekin) and Maizie (an all white Ancona). Now everyone seems to be getting along great. Maizie is making me fall in love the Ancona duck. When she first came, she was a fairly quiet duck who liked getting picked up. Unfortunately she got bumblefoot. With all the treatment she is still enduring, she still likes to be held and is quietly putting up with the treatment by being so patient. She is even still laying eggs despite getting stressed out. Maizie is now helping me take care of my 3, 6 week old babies (2 Khaki and 1 dark Campbels) and acting quite lively despite having a bad foot. She just keeps acting so cute. Maizie might actually beat my 2 of my Khakies, Daffodil and Quasimodo/Quasi, and Hewey the Pekin who all absolutely love to be held. Maizie sold me on the Anconas.

How do I get my anacona ducks tame when I go to feed or water them they go crazy want them tame before they get full grown

the easyest way is to sit with them nearest to the food as possible within a few feet. its why i have a chair in or near all of my coops. just sit their reading a book etc and when they get to the point that they aren't scared to eat around you then you start in with treats my ducks are canned corn and canned sweet pea freaks but your may like something else try to limit canned stuff to once every two weeks

I got them locally from I See Spots Farm. I'm not sure if she will ship eggs or not. It's in Greensboro, North Carolina. I was really impressed - I got dozen eggs, and they were all fertile. I tossed one at day 14, but I was slow getting my humidity up at lockdown, and I think that caused some late loss, since all of them were moving when went into lockdown.

My Ancona ducklings! Wonderful pets! This was taken about 1 month ago, they've grown almost 3 times this size now & have enjoyed a healthy diet of duck mash, cracked corn, organic green beans, black beans, peas & live crickets. They've become quite tame.
