Ancona Ducks

Dont let the negativity get to you. Some like to tout about 30+ years of breeding, but can't post photographic proof of these top quality breedings. Small minds like to spend time tearing other down and spreading negativity. This happens to be a pattern on here for someone.

Good advice.

Deflect all you want, but prove me wrong. Find me one single pre 1980 published report of an Ancona duck existing in Great Britain at, near or even past the time they are claimed to have originated there.

I can't remember if you have a suitable drake for your new hen or not....? If you want an open-marked youngster about the same age as her let me know. I have two that are very open and one is going over an average marked choco hen but one could be brought up to the Wash. Feather Fanciers show next month if you would want him. I also have an extra average marked fellow but I think you would like the open one(s) better for her. =:~)

As a side note, I just love these ducks regardless of 'where' they came from. Mine bring a smile to my face and joy to my life!

I'm so excited I finally got my hands on a female Ancona today!! I know she's a little heavily marked but you have to start somewhere no? She's just about old enough to lay, although being as gloomy as it is here I wouldn't be surprised if she waits until spring to start. I can't wait!

Thank you so much for the offer, I do have a drake in mind, there's a picture of him a few pages back and he's much lighter than she is. Hoping for some beautiful babies!

I have the same thoughts regarding the breed in general, whether they are a saved older breed or a new developing breed I love them regardless. They're still rare and could still use more breeders to take interest and boost their numbers through preservation (or development) of genetically diverse lineages.

Here is another pic of my favorite drake. He's recently been kicked out of the flock by the other drakes.

I have some girl babies coming from Celtic this week, so eventually he'll have his own flock.

Wow, I just found this thread. I apparently need to spend more time peeking into the corners of BYC.

I have 8 Anconas. Guess I'll try to take some pics tomarrow. (Umm, I'm not awesome at this, just so you know)

Hi Celtic!

Fearnleaf, I like your girl. Glad you have a pair now.

I'd be interested in everyones thoughts on one odd Ancona I have. Its white and very pale grey. Whats that called? Silver? lavander?
