Ancona or Silver Spangled Hamburgs?

Mottled Javas are a fairly rare breed, and I've never seen a mottled java that has the amount of white the first bird has. My mottled's stayed mostly black with some white tipping. They also have red bay eyes, very predatory looking, and a horn beak with black mottling on the top of their legs.

I am very new to chickens, so my opinion may not be worth much. OTOH, I just saw four Anconas at our county fair -- and I bought two of them.

My Anconas do not have NEARLY as much white as your pics. In color, they essentially look like black/white versions of adult speckled Sussex. They also have definite black areas on their otherwise yellow legs.

I can't say much about personality yet, as I just brought mine home this afternoon. Good luck with yours!

I guess Anconas can start out with different combinations of black/white, mine had a little more white on her chest to start with(not as much as yours) but it filled in with more black later...Also, I read that after every molt they will grow back a little less black and more white feathers. Yes, they do have white lobes by the way.

This week's update: white lobes, definately, and black spots on the legs (how did I forget earlier?).

Anconas! Maybe... they're huge though.

Thanks for all of your help everyone!
