that is one thing I am not looking forward to seeing, we have a lot of field mice and small rodents (moles/voles) around here. Fact of life is fowl love rodents. We have loads of wild grouse and partridge and quail. I have seen a few partridge run into the bush once or twice with a rodent in their mouth...lol...

Ewwww, I had no idea ducks and chickens would eat rodents!! A pekin can really swallow a mouse?! Good to know, I'm sure it will happen with mine eventually. My chickens and pekins are about 3 months old, the other day I let them out to free range and the chickens were pecking at something on the ground, it was a dead baby bird that fell out of a nest.

I couldn't bear to let them pick it apart so I threw it away. But if they want to eat mice that's fine with me....I just don't want to see it.

My chickens ate another hen's newborn chick once.

It was very sad and disgusting. They pecked its brain and guts out.
