my two buff orpingtons just turned 5 months and have yet to see an egg from them. i have checked their bones in the back and they seem some what spread out so i hope the eggs are coming soon. is there an other way to tell if they will lay soon or can help enduse the process a bit? i have nests set up for them that they explore every now and then and i put fake eggs to kida help i guess (something i learned from my dad) but at the time i dont have any old enough roosters my oldest chicks are a little over a month. any suggestions or advise?

Their combs and wattles will turn bright red and then they should start laying thereafter. Make sure they are fed layer feed. My buffs began laying at about 5 months so you should see eggs any day now!

YAY!!!! Im still waiting for 6 of my girls to lay, they're holding out on me, Ive waited 25wks----its time already!!!!!

I have 15 hens an a roo, they are 9-10 months old they have been laying since last fall, was tallying up the egg count on Tuesday 147 eggs since the first of this month with todays count its 172 eggs an when I go to the coop 1 time in the morning an 1 time in the evening it thrills me to find eggs
