Angel Wing Question

I know you are it’s just hard to figure this stuff out
To finish what I wanted to say before my old PC decided to start acting goofy.:thAs a Newbie I am very thankful just as I am sure other Forum members are, to have you and Isaac 0 with your years of experience. The both of you are willing to jump in and help solve these types of difficult issues and I just wanted to say Thank you and that I am very grateful for your help. :)

Up-date on our two little babies with the heavy wing issues. This morning the Duckling that shed his wing wrap yesterday, just now shed his wrap from the other wing. LOL Looks much better and his is wanting to pull it up into place over letting it just hang. Tonight after all day of being unwrapped, we decided to re-wrap it to help him with his balance for when he stands straight up and flap both wings. It seemed to be much easier for him if both wings are wrapped over just one when he what to flap his wings . Duckling number two is going to be the real test because his wing wraps have remained in place. We will take them off tomorrow and see how things look. I will try and take pics to post of the results if its not to late to do so. I am very optimistic this will work to correct the issue because I am liking the results I am seeing in the first duckling. Surprisingly they both seem to do so much better in their daily duck activities with their wing tips wrapped up into place over just hanging.

Hey, that's great to hear! Pictures will come in handy for future people with the same problem.
This afternoon when everyone was taking a little rest from their actives and sunning themselves. I noticed another drake who is a bit larger then the two runts, but not by much. He was kind of sleeping with his head turned buried into his wing feathers and standing on one foot. As I watched him, both wings and wing tips would lower to the ground and he would hurry and pull them back into place and this continued for quite some time as he was resting there in one spot. Otherwise he his normal just like the bigger more developed ducks his age. So I thought this was kind of strange, your thoughts on this?

My thoughts? I'd probably just say he was really tired, birds tend to tuck their heads into their wings they're feeling sleeping, so maybe that, and he was relaxing his wings a bit. Excessive head tucking may mean your bird is sick, but if it's just now and then I wouldn't be concerned.

It's kind of funny to watch how they all go about their daily actives, the four chickens included. They will go from 100 mph running around eating, swimming and doing the other duckling things they do. Then just like that they all shut down for a rest. I do understand a poultry acting as you described above could be a potentially sick bird? IMO and knock on wood, this flock isn't showing any signs of anyone being sick. Other ducks will do the same thing, heads turned into their wing feathers as they rest. It's those Dang heavy wing tips that like to hang needs to be corrected! :he Thanks again for your time and input. :)

Wing Up-Date on first little duckling who was able to keep both his wing wraps on for two and a half days. He went right over to the water and started grooming himself after I took both the wraps off. After watching him for awhile his wing tips seemed to stay in place as he went about his duckling business. Next day I noticed his wing tips wanting to slowly drop a bit and he would hurry and pull them back up into place and all was good. Day two with wrap off should be the real test to see if I need to re-wrap or not? IMO while his two wings tips were wrapped up into place he did so much better with interacting with the other ducks and moving about the coop. I will report back to re-wrap again or not?

Now for the problem child, he was not able to keep both his wing wraps on both wings like his brother. After day one, left side came off and had to re-warp and day two the right side came off so had to re-wrap that one again also. In pic one you can see his left wing wrap in place, his right side wing tip looks the worse of the two ducklings. For whatever the reason it wants to turn inward and get hung up in between his legs as you can see in the other two pics. So we re-wrapped that one back up into place, hopefully the wrap stays on better this time around. Judging from the looks of the adult feathers that are trying to grow in on his back, he looks to be the slower of the two in developing. Not sure if this has anything to do with whats going on or not, but there is a huge difference in his size from his other more larger siblings. No arguing the fact he is defiantly the runt of the batch. With both his wing tips tied up into place he does very well interacting with the other ducks. He keeps himself groomed and will even get in between the bigger ducks and fight for the worms I throw in the coop. IMO he is a healthy duckling, just a little behind in development is all.
