Animal attacked my Rouen...not sure what to do.

Pics
She is still standing, not dying, yet as @casportpony said, "dying birds don't get up to stretch."

Her foot hurts, that is why she is not moving and head down and she has some labored breathing but that fluctuates with me being present. I am now the bad man who shoves things down my throat.

I bought a scale.

I am still working on pain meds as her foot is now the problem. She must have been dancing on that foot for the whole time and not really letting me know it was that painful, once they attacked her and rolled her over, if you see the video, they attack on her good side and force all her weight on her damaged foot, I betcha money it ripped it inside, I may not see bleeding, but the damage inside that was healing must have got shredded.

She has not walked the same or shown as much vigor since then, but that does not mean she is done according to @casportpony , so I am not done. Tired, but not done.

Ok so update: No more banter, I tend to ramble...lol, see?

I got another 40ml of Pedialyte in her at 5:30, she drinks a few sips on her own after I give her fluids. So I am on baby parrot food in an hour. I give her water every 30 minutes and she takes s few sips, but she is really stressed from me shoving that tube down her throat so I am giving her a 2 hour break with checks in between then 50ml of food to start.

I sure wish I lived closer. I would help you with her.:hit I just know she’s gonna make it. Seriously stop beating yourself up.:hugs If it wasn’t for you, she would be dead by now. She is so blessed to have you. She’s in the small percentage of ducks that are pampered. She will get back to loving you. I promise. They get over it and they forgive. (See I’m putting human emotions on them too).;)

No feeding this morning. She ate by herself. Started gobbling lettuce but only if I threw it in her pan.

I got up to find her standing and drinking.

Now she just wants to rejoin the crew. Was she playing me? Or forlorn?

Limping leg and all. I let her in the med pen and she muddled normally albeit a little stiffly. Now she just quacks for their attention. I got her wet so she would preen in the pen and then later this morning I am going to assess her possibly just release her. She is semi wild now anyways so, this is what she wants.

Here I was anthropomorphizing her like we all tend to do here from time time and the reality is these guys made their choice and choose the pond rather than pampering.

Here is s video of her preening. I have another one titled WTFlock that is just me rambling like an old man as you would think his toddler just took his first steps..."come on baby".

I woke up this morning hoping she was doing better!:celebrate:weeIm so glad she is doing better!

What do her wounds look like Patrick? I’d be a little worried the infection would come back if she went to the pond. Can you catch her easily? What do you think? How many days did your friend say to give her the antibiotics?

I will try and get a picture of the wounds. I am thinking of just leaving her in here until she can fly over the barrier. She is eating. I put dry grubs in the soil and I am going to go to out later and look for red worms...

I think her playing dead was all an act yesterday to get back out. But I did get two oversized doses of antibiotics in her and about whatever it says above in food...and now she eats on her own so...he originally said one day and turn her lose as the melancholy would kill her and quality of life was more important, and although this guy was a medic in Iraq, his instincts are pretty good. I think the day of rest after the frenemy attack was good, her act was unforgivable :gig

Right now she is cleaning off the ointment I just sprayed on, and resting.

I will be bringing her in at night, at least for the next 2 days. Regardless of her feelings...

If it were me I think I would keep her inside that enclosure for a couple more days. They can all see each other so it's not like she is totally isolated. I wouldn't risk another attack until I was sure she could handle it.
But. . you know more about how she is doing that I do since you are there to see everything and how she is doing. Whatever you feel is best for her is up to you :)

I agree with @CayugaJana and Shaw, you know what's going to happen the drakes are going to go after her . Of course only you can make the decision, just so thankful for her good report.
X3. Keep her separated until her wounds are healed.

I agree. They are not healed enough for me, I could not get a good picture but i got a good look and tonight i am going to wash and dress best I can before putting her back inside.

I have a problem though, in 4 days I leave for 36 hours.

However it is 4 days so I can assess along the way. She is still very stiff and today may have been good but she will rest tonight. Right now she is quacking loudly because they all moved away and I left as well to type.

Tonight I can administer the proper does of antibiotic and dress the wound with ointment and spray.

Should I gavage?

She ate lettuce in her water and muddled several times today in a grub and bug filled weed area. We don't spray as you can tell and she is enjoying all the benefits.
