Animal attacked my Rouen...not sure what to do.

Oh no poor baby. That’s just awful. I’m glad you were there to save her. I bet she knew you saved her also.

Do you have any fish oil capsules? Or fish, flax, and borage oil capsules? If you put those in her food, she will make more oil. Which I understand she’s having difficulty putting her head back there to spread the oil, but I’m sure it won’t hurt if you’ve got them laying around. You could also put a warm washcloth on the gland for a few minutes then try to spread it out for her. But that’s if you have time and she cooperated.

How’s she now that she’s secluded again? Is she happy to be safe or agitated she’s by herself?

She is ok. Not quacking, relaxing. I got the classical music going as I played that when she was really bad.

I will see what I can do about fish oil...she eats the mazuri and some crumble but mostly she muddles do I am putting grubs and minnows on ground...you got me thinking so I'll get it back up. I think I'm going to dig the mini pond deeper and bigger.

On edit: she went right in the pen when I placed her down. She knows she got saved.

Video update:

2 minute video of the 4 minutes of fun. After that, phone was on ground...recording sounds.

First minute and half is her tentative walk back to pond. As soon as DJ jumps her I try to get her. That is when fun starts.

Aww darn it was just getting good. LOL just kidding but I bet that was as fast as you've moved in a long time right?

How is she doing after that valiant rescue?

She seems ok. But the drakes are pestering her so I think spring is in the air and she knows she is weak, but instinct overrides sanity.

Well, moving fast is not something a 58 year old Scottish troll is good at...nothing against trolls, I am sure they are plenty fast.

I always say my ancestors never outran a rolling barrel of whiskey.

Yesterday was dumb. Today I vow to be cognizant of the fact that she may end up a house duck.

She walk inside last night plopped down and wondered where the treat was.

Quack, quack, quack...then Drake 1 comes by and hiss talks at her. Momma wants drake 1. Great..

Quack quack quack....can you muzzle a duck? Just kidding!

:oops::lau:gig

Update: she is finally getting some good oil production going. The gland has been pretty dry and today it is oiled up and she is going to town spreading the oil.

Not sure why oil production down, maybe to offset the needed nutrition to get weight back on?

Either way...with oil on her feathers I don't have to worry about drowning. Just the two males jumping her and LG getting into a hen fight.

She survives that she is good to go. Not sure when to release but she is getting honery as all get out.
