animal control came and said to get rid of my chickens!

It would have to go to court for the chickens to be forceably removed. What can be done is fines for ignoring code.

Plenty of chickens live much of their lives inside. Make sure the cage is sufficiently lrege and/or get chicken diapers and let them have free run of the house.

A lot of times no body complained at all,,,, These animal rights nuts have gone WAY to far... They want to control all animals... I have seen where they say the hens are abused because we use them as egg laying machines...

nobody wants any animal to be abused but the Animal rights fanatics are taking over... The Humane Society's abuse more animals then any one else... They kill 90% of the animals they take in... PETA KILLED 97% of the animals they took in....

Check in to it......

They can and will take your chickens.... and you will have to go to court to get them back.... Even if you win you will have to pay for there care while they had them..... And it is outrageous what they say it cost a day to care for each chicken.....

Try reading your constitution. They cannot take them without a court order.

But how hard do you think it would be for an ACO to go to the judge and show him/her how many complaints have come in and how many times they have been to the house to ask that the chickens be removed? I'm just saying it's a possibility, and a chance I wouldn't be willing to take with my chickens. IMHO, I think the OP should follow up by attending the meetings and fighting to not only keep her chickens, but allow others in her area to have them as well, by having the stupid law changed!

:hugsHow Sad! go! fight! win! Some people are'nt truly happy in life unless they are miserable! I worry about that problem as well... I have a stratgie that just might work... I'll send my 3 neighbors lots, and lots of eggs! who can complain about freebies?

I can understand someone's complaining about my rooster because he crows all day long. Why anyone would complain about a neighbor's having a few hens, I can't even imagine unless they weren't being cared for and their living quarteers weren't kept clean and odor free. People and local government need to mind their own business. With all the problems in local governments and politicians, especially "judges" sitting on their butts collecting paychecks and doing nothing but play up to campaign funders... any campaingn funder... oh well...

if it has to do with odor.. and she has ducks.. i think that ducks are waaaaaaaaaaaay nastier than chickens.. sorry, it's my own opinion. I had ducks for 1 summer.. that was more than enough

Just take a look at the outcome of the family in Hollywood, Fl. The family went to court, and they told them that their "pets" were just chickens. They were turned down cold. For your information, our chickens are not kept just inside all the time, they have an area which is quartered off until I put them out in the yard @ 3:30 p.m until 8:00! Until you know your facts, you should be quiet. We are fighting an anti-agricultural mentality. Sophisticated "BIG CITY". Which is like this

that you did to me.
I would never put my chickens in harms way, as a matter of fact, they are quite spoiled. I take very good care of them, as all my animals. You don't know me, so how can you pass judgement. It is someone like, you that would turn down someone like me, about keeping my chickens in MY backyard.

thanks so much sonoran silkies, they have a decent run area, until I let them out in the afternoon. Read my recent post above this one, it will tell you. Again, thanks

Oh, they do sleep in a huge cage at night, you know what would happen if I didn't do that.
