Insulin?
(I think I've heard of it....)
It's a hormone that your pancreas' islet cells produce to break carbohydrates down into usable energy.
I'm a Type 1 diabetic, so most of my islet cells are dead, meaning that my pancreas doesn't produce enough insulin for proper bodily function on its own. I need to inject insulin naturally in addition to the small amount that the remaining cells do produce.

Humalog also smells funny. It's very distinct.
For some reason, it's only the Lantus (long-acting -- I take it once per day, and it works to keep my blood sugar steady by constantly working just a bit to bring it down) that makes me somehow feel nostalgic.
Maybe that isn't the right word... uh... woozy? In a good way? Pretty sure that there's some dopamine in there somewhere?
Makes me think of the pleasant hospital and coming home.
