I see the 10 points now, but I still think I have been upgraded in error. I have less than 20 points, so I should be just pecking and scratching, and should not have an "egg" yet. But I'm up at the next level, getting noticed, and have one egg.

Alos, I just want to confirm - all this is private, and no one can see anyone else's overall ovation rating . . . is that correct?

I just looked at your profile and the total number of starting point (10) plus the number of ovation points you've received are totaling up the correct amount. If you're ok with it I can get into more specifics of how it is calculated in your case.

Right now everything is set to "private", which means only you can see your own points, level, ovation profile, etc. We may change this in the future, but no plans to do so right now.

I'm still confused. Shouldn't the total number of points then be 10 more than the Ovation Received number? In the Flockwatcher example you show above it is 6 more than the Ovation Received number but 10 more that the Unique Ovation number.

In my case, the Ovation Received and Unique Ovation numbers are the same, and the total points number is 3 more than that. Perhaps 3 were mods and the points counted double, but I didn't get 10, or perhaps 7 of the ovations didn't count?

Are there some areas (like some of the social areas) where ovations don't earn points? If they do earn points in places like random ramblings or games, jokes and fun, maybe you should consider not giving points there- I've seen that sort of section skew the balance in other forums.

Also does the ovation only go up for the number of unique ovation instead of just the amount of ovation? According to my ovation it goes by unique or I just can't count.

You should be getting points for all ovations and not just unique ovations. I think your case is similar to Gargoyle's and I'll check into it.

"Kevin565 is making a difference on BYC," is seen only by Kevin. It doesn't say, "YOU are making a difference." No one else knows Kevin is making a difference.

I'd suspect that's just preliminary, Nifty indicated they are still sorting out how all of this works. My guess is that before long the little icons will appear with our avatars.

You may be confusing the ovation points with the number of ovations you've received. You now have 112 Ovations (which was probably 111 yesterday). Yesterday was the day that we introduced / started showing points, and we're working on figuring out why some points aren't being counted and hope to have an answer soon.

Thanks for posting this example.

It looks like some historic ovations received are not being counted toward your total score. If someone clicked the "thumbs up" icon on one of your posts many months ago, before we turned the system on, it may not be getting counted properly. We are checking it out and will clean all this up, promise! The intention is definitely for you to get credit for all the times anyone has ever clicked the thumbs up icon. You should get credit for your past contributions, after all.

Ovation that you give people right now will be counted correctly, so have at it! We'll sort out the historic points.
